Joy vs. Happiness

What is the difference between joy and happiness?  They seem to mean the same thing right?  Well, out of curiosity, I decided to look up the true, unbiased definition of each.
Joy: -noun, the emotion of great delight or happiness;  keen pleasure; elation.

Happiness: -noun, good fortune;  pleasure;  contentment;  joy

So, whats the difference?  To me, joy seems to be a greater form of happiness.  Whenever I think of joy, even when I was a child, I always thought of it to be a more everlasting sincere form of happiness.  This has been on my mind lately and I thought I would share it.  Do you feel a difference in Joy and happiness or is it all the same to you?  There really is no main point of this post except to  express my ideas or well...thoughts. I would love to consider myself an overall joyful person, but I can't.  I have my days where life makes me just want to crawl in a hole and hide. So I guess I could describe myself as a happy person.  I don't know.  Food for thought.

Much love,
